As chairman of the RTFA the responsibilities and challenges are enormous but exciting. Farming in Region has a long history since in the 1960’s but has never been a commercial entity in the community or region. This phenomena of non commercialisation together with the decline in the economic ‘backbone’ mining has created many opportunities in the agricultural sector for farmers.

The RTFA is working collectively with GMC, NARI and LEAP to enhance and increase agricultural production to commercial quantities.  As time progresses, various issues will be tackled such as the availability of land titles/leases, finance, irrigation, duty-free concession and other forms of assistance that aid increased production.
